AKS has been on a steady rise over the last two years with the release of consistently excellent music and moving live performances, refusing to compromise musically in an increasingly commercial environment.
His 2009 mixtape, A Miracle in the Making, boasts fan-favourite ‘This 80’s Baby’ – as featured on BBC Radio 1Xtra and his groundbreaking performance on the popular online music platform The Cordless Show – culminating in significant co-signs from several veterans and key names in UK rap including TY, Swiss and 2009 Mercury Music Prize winner Speech Debelle.
Two years on from his well-received debut, The Bus Stop EP certainly proves to be worth waiting for… With a wealth of soulful Hip Hop musical milieus from the likes of Nutty P, Chemo, Self- Taught and newcomer P.Y to complement AKS’ most definitive song-writing and delivery to date, The Bus Stop EP is evidence of the well-rounded artist he has become.
A lyrical expression of love and the path to obtain and maintain it, The Bus Stop EP is essentially a journey through life with AKS taking you on a voyage of emotions throughout the project’s 8 tracks – ranging from the lustful confessions of ‘Blame It On Her’ and the despair and uncertainty conveyed in the EP’s title track, to the displacement and seclusion expressed on ‘House Called Home’.
AKS delivers his most earnest thoughts from the 30-minute EP’s soul-stirring opening track – the piano-driven Nutty P-produced ‘The Bus Stop’, in which AKS expresses his frustrations and uncertainties about sharing his talent with the current scene – to the final (and AKS’ personal favourite) track: the P.Y-produced ‘Truth Be Told (I, I, I)’, which sees the freshman rapper proclaim “I do what I love ‘cause I love what I do” alongside alternative soul singer Kadija Kamara.
Definitively putting his mind, body and soul on the line for you with this intimate record, AKS invites you to join his musical journey at The Bus Stop with his heart on his sleeve – all you need to do now is press play.
The Bus Stop EP is scheduled for release on March 21st 2011 via Less Is More Music, available on iTunes and all good digital record stores with 500 limited edition physical copies released via TheBusStopEP.com
As a thank you to everyone who has been patiently waiting to meet him at ‘The Bus Stop’, AKS will be offering a limited period 48-hour FREE download of The Bus Stop EP exclusively from TheBusStopEP.com commencing March 19th at midnight GMT, preceding its official release.
